WRIST AND HAND PROBLEMS

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • The median nerve that passes between your wrist bones and a strong ligament on the bottom of your wrist may be compressed. This nerve supplies sensation to your first three fingers and part of the ring and provide strength to your thumb muscles.

 

De Quervain’s Disease

  • Results from overuse of the thumb tendons, often caused by repeated pinching with your thumb while moving your wrist.

 

Macrodactyly

  • Overgrowth in size and diameter in one or more digits.

 

Mallet Fingers

  • Flexion deformity of the fingertips as a result of a ligament/tendon injury.

 

Polydactyl

  • Excess number of fingers; tends to be hereditary.

 

Stenosing Tenosynovitis (Trigger Finger)

  • Thickening of the lining surrounding the tendons of your finger results in triggering of the finger

 

Syndactyl

  • Fusion of two or more fingers in which there may be involvement of soft tissue or may include fusion of the bone.
